Wow, goodstuff here.... I took my son when he was 9 on a father son camping trip. (Overnighter). 1st year We took our boat to a island, spent the evening , made pancakes the following morning then spent the day on the beach exploring, and we were home by dinner... . By the time he was thirteen, we had 9-10 Dad’s and it became a father, daughter camping trip. We traveled via boat and auto to places all around upstate New York , and CT area. Great memories!

Been building that style for at least 20 years. I find that starting on one end, and building it to the other is much easier. Then you don't have any unsupported sections with weight on them to potentially bend the poles/stress the connections. Then the tarp and secure the canvas (no ladder needed). Then lift the walls to insert the legs. I know you have your way of doing things, but next time you erect the tent, give it a try, you might find it easier. I've constructed a 4mx8m (13x26 foot) tent alone using this method.

My father still uses for Deer Camp his green canvas teepee that a North WI tent maker friend of his custom-built for him years ago. With a 26' floor diameter, it bent the first 2 center poles made for it, currently using 3.5" (I believe) aluminum pipe.

Careful with that tractor around the tent! Once the turf is damaged and that area gets muddy you'll be wanting the tent somewhere else

So, I guess this particular model would be impractical for me to set up for myself. When I saw Jack reach out across the 5 foot spreader and squeeze the joints together, well, that's too far for me. Not to mention, I don't have a forklift to go with me on my adventures. Happy new year, folks!

"How are we going to keep all of these different posts?" We have a car port and a medieval style canvas pavilion and we color code all of the parts that we use for camping. Both have an internal frame (I made the frame for our medieval pavilion, which was a fun project, I might add) like your tent That way, you have a visual clue as to where things go together. It helps a lot when you have help from someone that doesn't know anything about putting up a tent. "Grab a blue and green connector there and fit that pipe with the blue ends in it".

Though you say Jack isn't really interested in following in your footsteps, that boy is one heck of a good worker and I believe he REALLY enjoys spending time with Dad, learning and watching. That way, if he chooses to go into the world(not that you don't live out of the reach of the world, oh heck, you know what I mean, your smart lol) and it doesn't work out or he gets tired of it, he'll have something to revert to and he'll always the memories you two (really all 4 of you) are making. He's a good boy and seems to really love his family, he seen to be one heck of a good big brother as well. Way to do it right Cody. God bless you and your family and thank you for giving all of an avenue full of great content, to escape to and thank you for always sending prayers.

Oh and just an FYI, when I was in the Army, I set up many GP mediums and larges, in all kinds of weather and 1 addition we would add during the winter, was a few rows 1x10s lengthwise in the rafters and lash them into place with 550 cord, just to distribute the weight of the heavy snow in Germany and Fort Drum NY. It would eliminate that slight sagging between the "trusses" and keep it from pileing up, stretching the tent over time. Also, tie some pink(or whatever color you have) surveyors tape at a few spots on each down guy, leaving a tail so it'll flop on the breeze. That helps keep people from tripping on without spending money on chem-lights or those special battery powered lights they sell that clip into them. The surveyor tape is still a good idea either way.

That’s a very nice set up . I would love to have one . At my age and most of my winter camping I’m by myself. So I need to keep set up simple. So the canvas tent of my choice for a canvas tent . Is going to be a single pole pyramid tent. I found one that I think I can afford is made by Panther Primitive. They make a lot of historical style tents. The one I’m getting is called the Hunter tent . The size is 7x7x7 . I will have them put the stove jack in for me . I already have a stove

Definitely a two man job setting up your tent. Boy that’s a great looking tent! I think I’d enjoy staying in one of those with the wood stove your installing. I have a lot of good memories of my youth staying in tents in California and Oregon. Our big family mostly working in the fields . As a kid we were just happy having a roof over our heads and something to cook on. I am looking forward to seeing the next episode. I think you have a great idea for using these for the community planning you mentioned. And hopefully some cabins built on this beautiful land by the river! Keep up the good work guys.👍

Wranglerstar another option that I spoke to UPNORTHOF60 before is a welding blanket yes if you have a permanent set up I think the reflective wall is the way to go as it would reflect a lot more heat! But if you only set up for short periods and want to save on weight welding blankets are small easy to pack and can be easily hung from the aluminum bars and pegged to the ground. I do this set up in my hunting tent and it works fantastic!

I've had many great experiences in a tent. One time at religion camp, I shared a prayer with a lady, and almost sinned (lord forgive me). I hate the smell of these new tents, it smells like chinese farts. Why cant anything be made in the good ol Usa anymore. My granddaddy Willy (let him rest in peace) let me borrow his handmade tent once. You shoulda saw it, it got all my cousins crazed. I'd love to go on a tent trip with you, Trump, and Kenneth Copeland. We're the last of the truly smart people. I have no hope for today's kids, they want to do nothing and get everything handed to them. I betchyou that theyv never worked a true hardd day at work. How dare they critsize use for being "old fashioned". Lets take it back to 40's-the golden years, the years I'm proud to be an AMERICAN for. THhe kids are to busy trying to figure out what they are instead of just lookin betwen their legs and figurnin it out for themsleves. Well, thats my rant- i'd say more but I have to watch the rodeo. STAY TRUE! STAY CHRISTIAN MY SON!!

I keep meaning to tell you that the level concrete structure in your stream is likely a USGS weir for measuring streams flow. If so, you should be able to search stream flow records or even just measure the height of water above the weir to see flow rates per the appropriate USGS table. I really like all your videos. God bless.
