For wood stoves, more particularly tent stoves. What does one use for inside the tent/home? I understand insulated for transfer areas like walls/roofing but what about my living area or the flu outside?

Friend I enjoy your videos very much, so thank you. The conspiracy theory laden political commentary however, leaves something to be desired. Let's be straight: at the beginning of this video you note about the unusual rain in your area then continue to imply climate change is a hoax. The discrepancy appears hypocritical at best. The reason wood stoves have become so highly regulated is due to the very high incidence of fire and injury/deaths across the nation. The government seems to allow the insurance companies dictate the regulations to avoid these catastrophes because if the insurance industry is inundated with claims with all the idiotic people incorrectly hooking up stoves, then the resulting bankruptcies are inevitably bailed out by governments, which is us. They must cater to the lowest common denominator, and we all know there is no cure for stupid.

Dude, I was fascinated by that charming little pendulum clock on-the-wall, to the right of the woodstove, since I have been a fancier of clocks for many years. Nowadays, I repair clocks and build clocks. The clock beside your woodstove is beautiful. Is it Swedish?

you know they have these sheets of phony brick, I'm pretty most of its made of paper mache, and some of it i think is made of that foamy holey stuff that you can get from craft stores to make floral arrangements and such. And I think this phony brick can look so real that if you were to put some of it behind the fireplace no one would ever know.

You are totally right about the fact that the government will always try to take away what makes us independant. They want us to depend on them and they especially want us to buy oil, natural gas, propane and others that are not free. It is always a question of money for the big corporations that are controlling all governments on this planet. Same thing with the so called Covid "crisis"......

Worked in a garage. Knew asbestos was a health issue. Car would come in for brakes or wheel bearings. We'd remove the wheels and the brake drums, then like you said the very next thing was grab the airline and now all the brake dust off. I was young and I knew that brakes had asbestos and I knew asbestos was bad. But somehow since we were doing it and inhaling clouds of dust I figured the people I worked for knew something I didn't. At some point I realized they didn't know anything and I was taking a risk doing it. Only worked there for the summer.

I don’t want to hear about a wood stove you can’t have. In California you cannot have any type of wood stove for heat. Burning is forbidden, in fact we can’t have anything good. We are limited in approved generators, chainsaw, guns, paint, lawnmowers, etc. Our dirt bikes have a red sticker registration on bikes newer than 2005 which limits them to only 6 months a year you can ride them.

EPA stoves have the secondary burner tubes. That's actually a good thing cause you reburn the smoke before it come out of the chimney. Once your roaring you can't see any smoke. Thing is your wood has to be dry and seasoned. EPA stoves don't like wet wood.

The simplicity is amazing and it's sad that the government could put great manufacturers like Fisher out of business. 😓 Side note is my homeowner's insurance signed off on 18 inches clearance 😉

The reason Americans start their fires upside down is because when America was founded most of their fires we're outside. The method used to do good fires in the stove doesn't work very well for outside. In a stove the heat is contained ashes and coals fall down into the wood. This doesn't work so well outside the heat goes out and up far quicker. The fire is very likely to just go out. So when Americans started doing indoor wood stoves they started making them like they were doing when they were outside. It's just a cultural tweak that got ingrained. Nothing more than that.

Woodstoves are tremendously polluting when running poorly. The pollution is all local. Soot, NOx, and a variety of other toxins are created by inefficient burning. Those stay in the neighborhood, and come back into your dwelling. So the EPA is protecting you.

Glass door cleaning tip... Wet a paper towel and dip into your ash can. lightly scrub the glass, you may need a bit more water and ash. Once the smoke and film is broke, wipe with another clean and damp paper towel. Dispose of paper towels is a different container than your ash bucket. Boom! Easy and still looking sharp!

I have my Century EPA wood stove in a corner. With the attached heat shield and reflective galvanized wall shield (with air space behind, below, and above) the corner clearance is 4". Nice to be able to tuck it into the corner like that, and the galvanized reflects the heat out into the room very well.

New York State has tried once already to ban wood stoves, claiming professional homeowners were burning plastics, tires and chemicals instead of wood causing large amounts of environmental damage..........and whatever the manufactures installation directions for distance from the wall. Most code is 36” if you don’t have manufacturers installation directions. So keep your owners manuals!!

Your position on the government and wood stoves is so uninformed. Please go learn about the EPA. When did the federal government turn off your utilities because you didn't "toe the line." C'mon, such false paranoia. So now you're frustrated that your wood stove is more efficient through research and engineering? AFAIK you are not a combustion engineer, nor have you studied how to design an efficient burning wood stove, otherwise you would have built your own that was wildly more efficient than what you could buy from and built buy "East Coast Man." I'm fully in support of your independence from anyone and the Government, but I am fully against ignorance. Show me data that supports your claims that the Government wants to ban Wood Stoves to lorde power over you. Otherwise, the data supports the goal of the EPA to reduce Black Carbon emissions from wood stoves through a more efficient and complete burning process. The EPA regulations forced wood stove companies to innovate to meet those regulations. Yes, nobody wants to be forced to improve, and yes, it costs money to improve and innovate. The benefit though really is for YOU, the US Citizen -- you get MORE BTUs out of the same amount of wood, and you reduce your contributions to Climate Change! And you choose to complain about the hassle or engineering or design, areas in which AFAIK you are not experienced (e.g. 20 years in efficient biofuel burning chamber design) in! C'mon!!! So frustrating. You benefit from a more efficient wood stove and you complain about it. The US Government is far from perfect, but this is the weirdest and least informed argument against its regulation I've ever heard. OK, not the worst ever, but it's still terrible.
